Trauma Responsive Care for the Occupational Therapy Provider
This three hour virtual training will help pediatric occupational therapy providers dive into the neuroscience of developmental trauma and explore how childhood traumas may impact their clients participation in occupations. Participants will leave with a renewed ability to identify the symptoms and implications of developmental trauma; practical ideas to increase the felt safety of clients within the therapeutic relationship; and inspiration for treatment planning tweaks to fully embrace the role that Occupational Therapy Practitioners can play in supporting children and adolescents who have experienced abuse, neglect, extreme bias, or attachment disruption.
Training is free and open to all levels of trauma understanding. A participation certificate will be emailed to participants who attend the full training and complete the follow-up survey. Participants will be asked to verify attendance via participation activities during the presentation.

Healthy Relationships
Healthy Relationships
Children in the foster care system often have not had healthy relationships modeled for them within their families of origin. Some have witnessed domestic violence, inappropriate familial and peer relationships, and experienced the violation of their bodies, distorting what is or is not appropriate in relationships. Exploring topics that may be difficult for adults to discuss with children and teens is the starting point for becoming comfortable with the subject matter. Developing a healthy self-respect is the foundation for future healthy relationships, and as caregivers, we must engage our children in ongoing conversations. To register, call 314.968.2350 ext. 7234 or email intake.dept@familyforwardmo.org.
