What's Happening

After thoughtful planning and collaboration, Mental Health America - Eastern Missouri (MHA-EM) will transition its operations to FamilyForward. Through this strategic integration, FamilyForward will assume stewardship of MHA-EM’s select specialized programs, assets, and donor relationships.

This transition ensures the continued advancement of a shared mission while strengthening operational capacity and long-term sustainability.

No. FamilyForward will continue as the operating organization while assuming stewardship of MHA-EM’s select specialized programs and legacy.

This transition was a strategic decision focused on strengthening long-term impact and sustainability.

Donor intent and relationships are being carefully preserved. All commitments and designations will continue to support the mission donors care about.

Three specialized Preventing the Effects of Adverse Childhood Experiences (PEACE) modalities previously offered through MHA-EM will continue through services at FamilyForward

  1. Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up (ABC)

    A home-based intervention that supports caregivers of children ages 6 to 48 months through in-home coaching focused on nurturing, responsive care.

    FamilyForward plans to offer ABC services once clinical staff complete required training and certification. 

  2. Child–Parent Psychotherapy (CPP)

    A therapeutic approach designed for children from birth to age five that strengthens the caregiver–child relationship and supports healing from trauma.

    FamilyForward will begin offering CPP following staff training and implementation preparation.

  3. Occupational Therapy (OT)

    A service that helps children from birth through age 18 develop the skills needed to manage behavior, regulate emotions, and build independence.

    FamilyForward currently offers Occupational Therapy and will continue providing this service without interruption.
